The original charter members of Gates County Rescue Squad had a vision of staffing a team of qualified Search & Rescue personnel to provide a coordinated response due to a lost or missing person. Over the years providing such a team has been a priority among the leaders and volunteers of OUR organization. In recent years the leaders have moved this team toward a more regional team concept in order to grow the team and strengthen the teams response capability. This regionalized stance welcomes members from other Emergency Service Departments in Gates County as well as from outside Gates County into its ranks.
This search & rescue team operates as a division of Gates County Rescue Squad, Inc under the name NorthEast Search & Rescue under leadership of Gates County Rescue & EMS and Gates County Emergency Management.
NorthEast-SAR stands ready to deploy in Central and Eastern North Carolina and Southeastern Virginia to assist in locating and extricating lost or missing persons.
Among the ranks of this team are members who have completed certifications as NASAR SAR Tech I, SAR Tech II, SAR Tech III, Advanced SAR, MLSO, and NC TR Wilderness Rescue, among other general study classes to prepare members for deployment.
NorthEast-SAR has 1000+ hours of live search experience in its ranks.
